MY TRAVEL MAPS

So here are the maps I have travelled or am currently traveling on; i truly hope this page becomes the fullest of all

So this is my journey around Asia – it took a little over a year, covered over 16 countries (18 if you count the Pakistan and North Korean borders) and I spent around $5000 AUD. I will, over the next year, endeavour to recollect my times in all these countries, transcribe my diary and try to compile my advice to any budding, independent travellers who want to see the true nature of a country, on a genuine shoe-string budget! And i’m not talking about a lonely planet ‘shoestring’ budget!

The journey that I’m about to embark on promises to be even more awesome than my treks through the steaming, delicious food markets of Asia – it’s going to be in the last frontier of genuine backpacking:

This plan has changed a fair bit. My initial plan was to get a cargo boat from Djbouti to Yemen but getting a cargo boat across Somalian waters, my friends insist, isn’t the brightest idea i’ve ever had nor is trekking across Yemen to get to Oman so I have to change it a tad and head further north. Depending on cash and time I would love to continue this journey on through Eastern Europe – ideally up to Moscow and then get the transsiberian from Moscow to Beijing via Mongolio, this may have to wait for another time though..

This trip should cover over 20 countries (maybe around 25?) and I am too excited to truly convey on this blog! I’m currently working my Irish knuckles to the bone in Sydney, Australia to save for this massive journey. The clock is ticking.

I thought I should also whack in my trips, from summer camps, in America. Regrettably, my trips to America were when (how should I say this so as not to offend my mother!) I was younger, less culturally aware and more interested in frequenting frat parties and happy hours than world heritage sites! Oh well, live and learn – here was my trip:

That is not to say I didn’t have one of the best summers of my life, galavanting between Hollywood and Vegas, Ohio state frat parties and the Empire State Building. Perhaps I would do things slightly different second time around though
