Celebrity Spotting: Where to Start

Traveling the world has many upsides – among them, the fact that you get to see landmarks, explore new cultures and taste new dishes from all over the world. But travelling to the right place at the right time also comes with an unexpected (potential) benefit: meeting celebrities when you least expect it. Celebrities may show up in places you wouldn’t expect them to – like when Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis appeared hand in hand at Sziget Festival in Budapest – but there are some places where they are more likely to be found, like the ones below.

Monaco

One of the few city-states in Europe, Monaco is well-known for its casino – Monte Carlo – and its Formula 1 Grand Prix, one of the few European races taking place on a street circuit. But it has also served as a backdrop for a list of incredible million dollar movies shot in luxurious Monte Carlo. Plus, it is also a place where many European celebrities spend at least part of their summer.

Among the famous faces you might stumble upon while roaming the streets of Monaco, there’s (of course) the local Royal Family, Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton, former Beatle Ringo Starr, Scottish F1 racer David Coulthard, and former World Number One tennis player Novak Djokovic, among others.

Amalfi Coast, Italy

The pure Mediterranean elegance and vibrant colours make the Amalfi Coast in Italy a perfect destination for honeymooners – but also a great place to spot celebrities. Its jagged coastline and its often rustic look are combined with luxury hotels and resorts, which makes it a perfect spot for a vacation spiced up with a bit of celebrity spotting.

Reese Witherspoon, Rod Stewart, Anna Paquin, and Stephen Moyer are just a few of the big names you might stumble upon here.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

From a war-torn area in the mid-1990s, Croatia has built itself a reputation as one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in Europe. Dubrovnik is one of its crown jewels, with its iconic Old Town that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979. Its beautiful ocean views and its unique medieval atmosphere make this city a great place for vacations – and celebrity spotting.

Among the famous faces reported to have been spotted here over the years, let us mention two James Bonds – Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan – as well as actors and actresses like Catherine Zeta-Jones, John Malkovich, and Tom Cruise.

Are you in a celebrity-spotting mood this year? Where will you try your luck?
