If you’re thinking about traveling the world or going on a long trip then you need to make sure you can afford it. I often hear people give so many excuses about why they can’t go or say they can’t afford it – but the truth is that everyone can afford it, it just might take some people more time than others.

Here are 5 tried and trusted ways to make sure you maximise the money you save before you hit the road and explore the world.

Cut Out The Coffee

Every morning and lunchtime you can walk by a Starbucks and see the queue nearly coming out the door. We’re all guilty of indulging in that morning coffee to wake us up before we reach the office or/and grabbing one in the afternoon to keep the energy levels up. Just think for a moment how much that costs – if you cut out 40 coffees a month you’ll be saving over $200, do that for half a year and you’ll have booked your flight.

Win Some Money

If you’ve got some extra money after you’ve got paid then why not try and double, triple it or even more. So put some money on a game or at the casino, you can always get some more money this way. I always head over to a site like CasinosRealMoney.com to find the best place to have a flutter online, the best part is that you can do it at home or on the way to work.

Pack Your Lunch

We have all given up packing a lunch for work these days, but it’s crazy how much money you can save if you bring your own lunch to work and snacks too. It will stop you buying something from the shop mid-morning when you get peckish or in the afternoon when you have that craving. Packing a lunch cuts the cost of how much you spend on food massively. You can buy everything you need for the week in advance online and know exactly how much you’re spending. I calculated that I spent around $15-$20 per day when I bought my food from the shop or restaurant, but if I packed a lunch I would spend less that $5 a day. The saving works out at $200-$250 a month.
