Help in an Elephant Sanctuary, Dive with Whale Sharks and ride Tuk-Tuks across Sri-Lanka. Join Us!

So GiveBack GiveAway has officially become Mudita Adventures! If you want to know why we rebranded, what Mudita means and everything else, check out my blog post here. More importantly though, if you want to take the trip of a lifetime, our 2020 trips are INSANE! With destinations ranging from Thailand to Pakistan, Sri Lanka to Nicaragua, we have a lot of the world covered.

What is a Mudita Adventure Trip?

If you don’t want who we are at Mudita Adventures (formally Give Back Give Away), basically we’re a (real) adventure travel company that gives back. What other tour companies would take as profit, we put into sustainable development projects such as water wells in Ethiopia, Malaria clinics on the Burmese border, kindergartens in Cambodia, etc.

Each trip is roughly 2 weeks, where you spend the first 3 days helping with our partner community project. After that is done and dusted, we’re off for a real adventure. There’s a reason why 75% of people who come on a trip come back, so come and find out for yourself!

2020 Mudita Adventure Volunteering Trips:

We have a trip every month from February onward, so depending when you can take a break, we’ll have something for you! You can check all our upcoming trips here: Mudita Adventure 2020 trips

If you’re looking to help the world, and have an adventure in the first 4 months of the year though, this is hwat we have for you:

February 2020: Northern Thailand

Volunteering in Thailand 2020

Back ‘home’ for me! For that reason, Thailand will always be one of my favourite trips. Also, it means we know the best places, best restaurants best bars etc too. Often the project is people’s favourite portion of the trip, but with our Northern Thailand trip the Elephant Sanctuary often takes that prize! We meet in Bangkok, run our project with a Burmese refugee community on the border, then explore Chiang Mai, Pai and the elephant sanctuary before drawing an end to the adventure.

PROJECT: We have built a beautiful relationship with a Burmese migrant community near Mae Sot, Northern Thailand. Our partner coordinator, David, grew up in a refugee camp in Thailand himself, and rather than move to Chiang Mai or Bangkok, he has stayed to help the plight of his people. In the past, we’ve built and refurbished playgrounds, kindergartens, malaria clinics and classrooms with their team. We can’t wait to get back.

ADVENTURE: Northern Thailand gets ignored for the pull of the beaches in the south, but in my opinion, Chiang Mai is literally, literally THE BEST PLACE IN THE WORLD. I mean that, and I plan to live there from next year onwards. Anyway, the trip gets to explore Bangkok in all its chaos, then onto the project in the jungle, then Chiang Mai and the backpacker hideout of Pai, and of course the Elephant sanctuary. This is the best of Northern Thailand, you’re going to love it!

EXTENSION: If you feel like you can’t come to Thailand without exploring the beaches and islands, don’t worry! We have a 4 day optional extension in Krabi and beyond. Did someone say Pina Coladas?!

March 2020: Sri Lanka’s Tuk-Tuk Challenge

Volunteer Sri Lanka 2020
Volunteer Sri Lanka 2020

A few years ago, I went on a crazy adventure of driving my own tuk-tuk across Sri Lanka. It was the trip of a lifetime! Rather than reminisce about it, we decided to partner so now not only do you lend a hand to our partner project, and explore the best of Sri Lanka, you also get to hop in your own tuktuk to get from A to B. Now that’s a story for the grandkids.

PROJECT: In central Sri Lanka, we’ve partnered with a mountain community who are struggling with the natural disasters that are constantly coming their way. They’ve asked us to fund a community centre that can act as a community relief and disaster centre when the next accident occurs. Not only that, the community will be able to benefit from the community centre all year round as they will finally have a cultural cornerstone to gather around on special occasions. An absolute win-win. Come and help us complete it!

ADVENTURE: Sri Lanka is on the tip of going global. The secret is almost out! Beautiful landscapes, gorgeous beaches, hills, waterfalls, culture. But not yet, so come and explore before the masses get there. From the temples in Kandy, so the coast of Marissa, and everything in between. Get your driving license ready, we’ve got tuktuks to steer!

EXTENSION: You’ve always wanted to check out the Maldives right? But with thousands of dollars on flights, and $1,000 a night for a hotel, it all seemed a little much? Welcome to Mudita, we’ve got a treat for you! For $999 we have an epic ‘Budget Maldives’ trip. Flown in and out of Sri Lanka, come and see what all the fuss is about on a local Maldivian island for 3 nights.

April 2020: Philippines

Volunteer Philippines 2020
Volunteer Philippines 2020

The most beautiful island in the world, Palawan, awaits. But not until we’ve given a little something back. Come and see what Forbes and Nat Geo are raving about the Philippines. The landscapes, the islands, the boat trips, will all blow your mind. And if that’s not enough, how does extending your trip and coming swimming with Whale Sharks sound? Yup, really!

PROJECT: 2 years ago, in Luzon Island, we came across a local nun who had dedicated her whole life to educating the Ieta, the indigenous ‘mountain people’ of the Philippines. They couldn’t speak Tagalog, the local language, and certainly not English. 40 years later, Sister Mary is still there. But the community is now tri-lingual, with many getting jobs in the tourist trade. It’s amazing, so we’re going back to lend a hand with some infrastructure.

ADVENTURE: There’s not much I can say about Palawan that one quick Google Image search won’t say for me! But after the project, we’ll fly to Palawan and overland across the whole island, stopping at all the hotspots for sunset cocktails and private boat trips. It’s, quite simply, paradise.

EXTENSION: A trip I’ve been itching to get on. Over on an eastern island of Philippines, there is an abundance of Whale Sharks in their natural habitat. These gentle giants are completely safe, and an opportunity to get up close and personal isn’t one to be missed. I can’t wait!
