Charming House Azores: The Three Different Houses
I’m excited to share my experience at Charming Houses Azores, an idyllic retreat nestled on the beautiful São Miguel Island. My wife Jaa and I had the pleasure of staying at CASA PORTUGUESA, one of the three distinct houses offered by Charming Houses Azores. Let’s dive into the details!
CASA PORTUGUESA
CASA PORTUGUESA, where we stayed, is a blend of traditional Portuguese charm and modern comfort. This house is perfect for couples or small families, offering a cozy yet luxurious ambiance. The attention to detail in the decor, combining rustic elements with contemporary amenities, creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. It’s kind of like a luxury B&B more than a hotel. Homely but with a fine finish. Perfect.
CASA DO PÁTEO
CASA DO PÁTEO is ideal for those who enjoy open spaces and outdoor living. With a spacious patio and garden area, it’s perfect for barbecues and alfresco dining. This house is great for social gatherings, providing a perfect setting for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation.
CASA DAS PALMEIRAS
CASA DAS PALMEIRAS is surrounded by lush palm trees, providing a serene and tropical atmosphere. This house is great for larger groups or families, offering ample space and privacy. The house features several bedrooms and bathrooms, making it ideal for extended stays or family reunions.
Charming House Location
Right in the capital of the island, Ponta Delgado. Pretty perfect!
All 3 buildings from Charming Houses Azores are located on the São Miguel Island. The properties are conveniently situated near Ponta Delgada, the island’s main city, making it an excellent base for exploring the island’s natural beauty and attractions.
Whether you want to visit the stunning Sete Cidades, the tranquil Furnas Valley, or the scenic Lagoa do Fogo, everything is within a short drive.
Additionally, the location offers easy access to local markets, restaurants, and cultural sites, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the local culture and lifestyle.
We walked into town every morning and every evening, a lovely 10 minute walk past cafes, bars, restaurants etc.
Breakfast
One of the highlights of our stay was the delightful breakfast.
Each morning, we were treated to a variety of fresh, locally sourced products. From homemade pastries and bread to fresh fruits and yogurt, the breakfast spread was both delicious and healthy.
Special mention goes to the freshly squeezed orange juice and the Azorean cheese, which were simply divine. It was the perfect start to our day, enjoyed in the comfort of our own house or in the beautiful garden area. The personalized breakfast service, tailored to our preferences, added a special touch to our mornings.
The Room
Our room in CASA PORTUGUESA was like a luxury hotel suite to be honest, a perfect blend of comfort and style. The decor reflected traditional Portuguese elements with modern amenities. The bed was incredibly comfortable.
The room was SUPER spacious, with plenty of storage and a cozy sitting area. Large windows let in plenty of natural light and offered beautiful views of the garden. The attention to detail in the room’s design made our stay even more enjoyable.
We also appreciated the thoughtful touches, such as fresh flowers and local art pieces, which added to the room’s charm and character.
Facilities
CASA PORTUGUESA boasts a range of excellent facilities that added to our comfort and relaxation. The private hot tub was a luxurious touch, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring the island. We also enjoyed the swimming pool, which was well-maintained and surrounded by beautiful landscaping. The outdoor seating areas were perfect for enjoying a glass of wine in the evening, surrounded by the tranquil sounds of nature. Additionally, the house featured modern amenities such as a fully equipped kitchen, high-speed Wi-Fi, and entertainment options, ensuring a comfortable and convenient stay.
The Staff
The staff at Charming Houses Azores were really frienldy, and also really helpful with planning the itinerary for Sao Miguel.
From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm smiles and genuine hospitality. They were incredibly attentive and always available to offer recommendations or assistance. Their local knowledge was invaluable in helping us plan our daily excursions. The personalized service made us feel right at home and added a special touch to our stay. We were particularly impressed by their willingness to go above and beyond to accommodate our needs and ensure that we had a memorable experience.
The Cost
I hate spending a fortune on hotels. Especially when you’re out and about all day. Equally, when I’m with my wife I try to stay somewhere more comfortable. And, on top of all that, ideally we have a living room to chill but also for me to work on my blog and try to make some money!
Considering the high quality of accommodation and the excellent facilities, Charming Houses Azores offers great value for money. While prices may vary depending on the season and the specific house you choose, the overall cost is reasonable for the level of comfort and service provided.
Special packages and deals are often available, making it even more affordable for those looking to experience the best of the Azores. The inclusive amenities and personalized services make it a worthwhile investment for a memorable and luxurious stay.
TLDR? You can get this for not much more than $100 a night. Crazy cheap considering how lovely it is!
Getting Around the Azores
To truly explore the island at your own pace, I recommend renting a car. Having your own vehicle allows you the freedom to visit even the most remote and picturesque spots on the island. The roads are well-maintained, and driving around São Miguel is a pleasure with its scenic routes and breathtaking views.
Car rental services are readily available at the airport and in Ponta Delgada, offering a range of options to suit your needs and budget. Additionally, the staff at Charming Houses Azores can assist with car rental arrangements and provide helpful tips for navigating the island. I paid about $150 for 2 days in this little beast.
Conclusion
The Azores is a cute, homely destination. It’s not a resort-type place. So make sure your accommodation choice matches that energy. And our stay at CASA PORTUGUESA in Charming Houses Azores matched it perfect.
The beautiful location, delicious breakfast, comfortable room, top-notch facilities, and exceptional staff all contributed to an unforgettable experience. Whether you’re planning a romantic getaway, a family vacation, or a group trip, Charming Houses Azores offers something for everyone. We highly recommend it as the perfect home base for exploring the stunning São Miguel Island.
