Amazing places to try your luck (that are not Las Vegas)

They say gambling tourism has been a thing for a long time. Yawn. Are we really surprised? Las Vegas is known in every corner of the world, and has always been a strong point of American tourism. And there’s a good chance these tourists will step into a Vegas casino even if they’re not gamblers. People don’t just go there to play, they go for the atmosphere and distinctive energy that is hard to replicate. But what if Vegas is old news, and you want something different, something less… obvious? Well, there are plenty of secret spots out there. So let’s ditch the crowds and go somewhere new.

Before We Start Off…

Before we start with the list, we should digress. Well, it’s not really a digression, but rather a small detour. While land-based casinos are still popular, with destinations like Las Vegas still being one of the most popular in the USA, online casinos took a huge chunk of the market. It’s amazing how technology has changed casinos, with more and more people opting to play online rather than going to land-based establishments. And it shouldn’t be surprising. An online casino has a certain edge. It is more flexible, usually offers better perks, and gives players more control over their accounts. This is primarily in terms of safety features like self-exclusion.

Travel enthusiasts who also share their passion for casinos will find them practical when traveling. Basically, they need very little to work. Good internet connection, a mobile phone, and that’s pretty much it. No need to dress up or drive anywhere. And that’s the power of convenience. Travelers don’t have to rely on a location, which gives them the freedom to travel even somewhere remote.

Less Obvious Choices You’ll Love

Ever heard of Aruba? You probably have, but you wouldn’t connect it with casinos. Well, Aruba is not all about beaches and turquoise water. Aruba’s got a surprisingly vibrant casino scene, with plenty of high-end resorts offering everything from poker tournaments to slot machines with island-inspired themes. This might be a good excuse for you to snorkel around the Caribbean Sea this summer.

The next place on our list is Portugal. It might not be the first place that comes to mind, but it’s home to Casino Estoril, a very historic establishment. It was supposedly the inspiration for Ian Fleming’s James Bond novels. Classy, right? Plus, you can explore Lisbon’s charming streets and soak up some culture when you’re not at the tables. Germany is another European country with a very iconic casino, called Baden-Baden. This isn’t the average neon-lit casino. It’s a very luxurious establishment with crystal chandeliers, ornate décor, and a dress code that will make you want to dust off your finest threads. It’s a taste of old-world elegance, perfect if you like your gambling with a touch of class.

Next up – South Africa. It’s probably the last place you would think of, but there’s something called Sun City, and it’s a very unique resort. Surrounded by lush vegetation, you’ll find golf courses, luxury hotels and a casino that will make you want to forget Las Vegas. You can even go on a safari to see the Big Five. Now that’s what we call a unique experience.

If you’re the adventurous type, consider heading to Singapore. This city-state is known for its futuristic skyline and strict laws, but it’s also home to two massive, integrated resorts with casinos that rival anything in Vegas. If you’re into luxury shopping, world-class dining, and even a rooftop infinity pool with a view that’ll take your breath away, this is a place where modern meets extravagant.

Back on American soil, Deadwood, South Dakota might seem like an odd choice. But this old Wild West town has a fascinating history of gambling, and it’s made a comeback in recent years. The casinos here are smaller and more intimate, but the atmosphere is authentic. Plus, you can explore the surrounding Black Hills and check out Mount Rushmore. South Dakota currently has 12 Indian casinos in total, making this country an attractive choice for those looking for a very rustic casino experience.
