Lancaster is a beautiful city that’s perfect if you’re looking for a relaxing vacation for exploring. That may seem counterintuitive, but in Lancaster, it’s possible! From visiting the Amish Country to exploring wildlife sanctuaries, there’s something for everyone.

Lancaster, PA, has beautiful sites for photos, and you’ll want your smile shining bright. So, make an appointment to get those pearly whites ready with a dentist in Lancaster.

Keep reading for a guide to traveling through this city:

Amish Culture

Home to over 30,000 Amish people, Lancaster offers visitors a window into this unique way of life. The Amish are known for their simple and traditional way of living, and they’re famous for their agriculture, handmade crafts, and furniture.

One of the best ways to experience Amish country is by taking a guided tour through the Amish Farm and House. You’ll get to witness the beauty of their fields and maybe even spot an Amish buggy out on the road.

Lancaster Central Market

The Lancaster Central Market is a food lover’s paradise, with vendors selling fresh produce, baked goods, meats, cheeses, and specialty foods.

Established in 1730, the market is one of the longest continuously operating markets in the US, and it’s a bustling hub of activity. You’ll get the chance to witness the vendors showcasing their skills, and the buzzing energy of the market makes for a memorable experience.

Over the years, it’s been a hub for the community, and today’s visitors can enjoy the same sense of community and culture that has been so prevalent over the years.

Wolf Sanctuary

Nature lovers will appreciate the Wolf Sanctuary, a non-profit organization that rescues wolves, which currently home to over 50 wolves and wolf dogs—the pack ranges in age from newborns to seniors.

You can take a guided tour to learn more about their behavior patterns, feeding habits, and the unique social structure of the wolf pack. Visitors will also learn more about the challenges facing the wolf population worldwide and what we can do to help preserve these wild animals.

The sanctuary also allows visitors to participate in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to “walk with the wolves.”

Dutch Haven

Dutch Haven is a local bakery that’s been in operation for over 60 years and is famous for its “Shoofly Pie.” This molasses-based dessert is an iconic local favorite and a must-try during your visit.

The bakery also offers a selection of other baked goods like whoopie pies, apple dumplings, and fresh-baked bread. The gift shop is also worth exploring, with a wide selection of handmade crafts, souvenirs, and home decor.

Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area

The Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area is a stunning 6,000-acre space that’s home to a diverse array of plant and animal life.

It’s a popular destination for birdwatchers, as it’s a stopover for over 100,000 migrating birds like the snow goose and tundra swan. There are also hiking trails for those who enjoy exploring the great outdoors. You can easily spend a few hours at Middle Creek, enjoying the breathtaking views.

Lancaster is a city full of hidden gems. There’s something for everyone, from the Amish Country and Central Market to the Wolf Sanctuary and the great outdoors. So, pack your bags, lace up your sneakers, get those dental implants for a brighter smile during photo ops, and explore the lovely city of Lancaster.
