We all have one place in the world, whether it be in our own country or overseas, that we love to visit because it is a place that makes us happy and makes us feel relaxed. There’s no better time of year to head overseas than now, after the christmas break everyone seems to hit a bit of a low because the excitement has gone and the weather is terrible! Rome is the place I love to escape to, it is the best city in the word in my opinion. It has everything, great sites, great food, great people and great weather (most of the time). A quick tip before I go into the best things about this fabulous city is to make sure that you change your money before you go. There are of course various different places for you to change your money such as high street banks and travel agents, but one that I really like and use is Albemarle Bond because they are reliable and have some great rates available. So, once you’ve sorted out the money, the accommodation and the travel, here are some of the amazing things that you have to look forward to in Rome. I know you won’t need much persuasion to take a holiday at this time of year, but here are my favourite things about Rome and why I recommend that you head there as soon as possible.
Yes, before anything else the food is my favourite. You really haven’t tasted Italian food until you go there, forget the dodgy pizzas that you’ve been ordering over the christmas period because you didn’t have the energy to cook. Wait until you are sat down at one of the many lovely restaurants and your first pizza arrives, the taste will leave you mesmerised and wanting more. If you have any sort of diet plans then put them on hold before you head out to Rome, leave the diet at home, it would be a crime to have some of the world’s best food on offer and not eat as much as you possibly can!
The History and Architecture
If you love historical sites then you will fall for Rome instantly. I have been lucky enough to travel to loads of famous cities and have seen countless historical sites, but nothing at all beats the feeling of when you first walk into the Coloseum and see this mind blowing site for the first time. I can still remember being absolutely speechless when I saw the size of the place, it is the most impressive thing I have seen. Then of course you also have the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and many other sites to visit. It is truly amazing how magnificent the sites in this city are!
The Vatican City
It doesn’t matter if you are Catholic or not, because a trip to the Vatican is a must for anyone that goes to Rome. The place is truly remarkable, it is amazing seeing how vast the place is and the architecture is superb. You might be lucky enough to visit when the Pope is giving a mass, not because you want to take part but simply because you will see thousands of people filling the square. Do not go to Rome and miss this place!
