Top Attractions of Kenya You Shouldn’t Miss

Beaches in Kenya! If it got your attention, then this article is for you. Beaches might be one of many things that come to mind when considering Kenya. However, this country has a rich culture, wildlife, mountains, and, yes, beaches too.

There are a lot of things people need to learn about Kenya. And I will tell you all the top attractions Kenya has. So, let’s get started.

8 Awesome Attractions in Kenya You Must See

If I had to sum Kenya in one word, it would be diversity. There is something for everyone here. You can find fascinating wildlife, awe-inspiring mountains, and beautiful beaches. Here are the top 8 places to check out when you visit Kenya.

  1. Amboseli National Park

The word ‘Kenya’ literally translates to Safari. So, I would not do this guide justice if I did not start with the Amboseli National Park.

If you love wildlife, this place is for you. It has some of the highest peaks in Africa too. And those alone are quite the sight.

The main attraction is the wildlife, though. You will see majestic elephant herds, many different bird species, Cheetahs, and Giraffes. It is located in the Loitokitok District of Kenya. Keep in mind that there is an entry fee. But it is not that much.

  1. Witness the Great African Migration

The great African migration is hands-down one of the most aspiring things every wildlife enthusiast wishes to see on their Safari. The best part is you can make it happen as well. This migration takes place almost all year round.

And over 2 million wild animals migrating is as excellent of a sight as it sounds. So, I will remind you again to keep your camera ready. You will be in awe. You will have trained and expert guides that can answer all your burning questions. This is truly one of the best things about Kenya.

  1. Nairobi

Those who like doing things differently will not be disappointed with Nairobi. It is Kenya’s capital city, and there are many things to do and see here. Honestly, you can spend the whole trip here and not get bored.

You could visit the Nairobi National Museum to learn about Kenya’s rich culture and history. The museums have something for everybody. So you can experience the Kenyan people’s art, culture, and history.

There is also the Nairobi National Park. It is a great place to visit to see wildlife if you want to stay within the city.

  1. Malindi Beach

Let’s switch gears a little bit. Malindi beach is one of the country’s most famous (and beautiful) beaches. The best part is the water. The water on this beach is almost crystal clear, which gives a surreal vibe.

Keep your camera ready when you visit Malindi Beach. You will want to take loads of photos. This is the beach where the famous Portuguese explorer Vasco De Gama landed when he first came to Africa.

As you might imagine, this beach is a trendy photoshoot spot. In addition, there are two parts to this beach.

You will find parts that are very old-school and historic. In contrast, another part of it is very modern. The cuisine here is also excellent. Malindi beach is truly a must-visit when you are in Kenya.

  1. Lake Victoria

Visiting Lake Victoria will be well worth your time for those who like aquatic life. It is the largest lake in the whole continent and spans through Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.

You will see beautiful marine life like African helmet turtles, around 500 species of fish, and more.

Of course, you might not get to see all the 500 species of fish, but you get the point. The marine life here is very diverse. Plus, the atmosphere here is serene and wonderful. You will love it here.

  1. Mt. Kenya National Park

Not afraid of heights? How about a trip to Mt. Kenya National Park? This UNESCO World Heritage Site is hands down one of Kenya’s most famous tourist and sightseeing spots. You will love visiting Mt. Kenya National Park.

It is now a full-on tourist spot with great wildlife attractions and more. This place is in central Kenya and is perfect for those who love adventure.

  1. Giraffe Center

Although you have plenty of safari options to take in Kenya, there is something special about getting up close with an animal that is quite hard to beat.

The giraffe center near the Nairobi National Park is the perfect place to do that. Its guides are beneficial and will even share their workday with you in a brief 20-minute overview.

You will get a glimpse of what it is like to work with these beautiful animals daily. In addition, you will be given your very own bowl of food, which you can feed the giraffes.

Yes, it is as exciting as it sounds. Only a few places let you get this close to the wildlife. One thing is for sure. You will remember the experience you have here for a long time to come.

  1. Lake Nakuru National Park

This park is a paradise for bird lovers. There are over 450 species of birds you can see. However, the main attraction is the large flock of pink flamingos.

The horizon gets colored bright pink. That is how many of them you could see from time to time.

Moreover, there is Lake Nakuru National Park. It has big cats like lions and leopards, rhinos, waterbucks, and more wildlife to see. Seeing these exotic animals roam around in their natural habitat gives you a sense of true awe.
