Hotel Devin Bratislava Review: Bratislava City Break
I had just finished climbing Mount Everest, and it was time for a break. My long-suffering wife, and long-suffering mother deserved something nice after being terrified of me dying in the mountains for the last 2 months, so I planned a lovely Bratislava City Break for us all. But I needed to find a luxury hotel in Bratislava to truly say thank you. I hope my Hotel Devin Bratislava Review will show you that I made the right choice. Old school luxury, right on the waterfront, a brilliant 3 days in Bratislava.
Why I choose the Hotel Devin in Bratislava?
3 big reasons really:
- Luxury without breaking the bank. High-end, but with an affordable price tag.
- An independent luxury hotel. I don’t like to come on cool city breaks, then stay in a generic branded hotel, even if it is luxury. I could still FEEL like I’m in Bratislava.
- Location: Right on the Danube River, AND in the old city. Perfect.
The longer answer:

You can expect a warm and inviting atmosphere upon entering Hotel Devin, complemented by exceptional service and attention to detail. We checked in at 9pm, and we’re gifted 3 vouchers for 3 glasses of Prosecco upon check-in. Perfect start! The retro bar is gorgeous, retaining it’s old style. It’s also really cheap, with beers around 2 euro!
The hotel’s well-appointed rooms come equipped with a range of amenities to ensure a comfortable stay, while the on-site facilities encompass a full-service spa, perfect for relaxation after a long day of exploring. To top it off, visitors can indulge in an excellent breakfast buffet, showcasing a delicious selection of both local and international cuisine.

Breakfast
The restaurant, like the bar, 100% retains the old school vibe. I loved the look.
At the buffet, guests will find a selection of hot dishes, including eggs cooked in various ways, bacon, sausages, and other savory options. The pastries and bread are freshly baked, offering a delightful aroma to greet visitors each morning. Additionally, there is a range of cereals, yogurt, and fresh fruit for those looking for a lighter meal.
The breakfast doesn’t quite match the hotels we use in Thailand, the UK etc, but it does the job.
