New Zealand has always been one of my favourite countries to visit. Not only is it unique, being tucked away down at what seems to be the end of the world, but it’s got friendly locals who just can’t do enough to help you out throughout your stay. Add to this the stunningly gorgeous natural things to see and experience along with fresh fish, crisp wines and sunsets like you’ve never seen and you’re onto a winner.
One of the cities I always love visiting when I’m in New Zealand is Auckland. This city has something special about it – with its bay area and sandy beaches and great surf sites nearby, coupled with dozens of parks, open spaces and beautiful artistic cafes, it’s the ideal place to just relax and unwind after weeks of hard travelling. When I do come here, I love to stay at the Cordis Auckland, a beautiful five star hotel, well worth its rating. Here’s why.
The Cordis Auckland is one of the most beautiful and impressively designed hotels in the city. Featuring over 440 rooms and suites, it’s also large enough to accommodate large groups and conferences or weddings. The rooms themselves are all gorgeous, spacious and sometimes downright decadent, depending on what you’re looking for. The standard rooms offer all the usuals in any hotel – a plush bed, crisp linens, and high quality textiles throughout. The rooms convey a classic, chic and cool vibe, with shades of grey as the main pallet of colour with splashes of bright yellows, blues and reds throughout in cushions and chairs. The whole ambience makes you feel right at home in this comfortable, modern and stylish spot.
The rooms come either with two twin beds or one king, and having selected the one king bed for myself couldn’t have been a better choice. The combination of the luxurious Dream bed that Cordis Auckland is known for, plus the size meant that I slept like a baby all night long.
The bathrooms in each of the Cordis’ rooms are pristine with top of the line facilities and their own Signature Toiletries. You receive complimentary water in your room on arrival along with access to a private bar, tea and coffee making facilities and 24 hour room service.
The amenities on offer at the Cordis Auckland can’t be beat by far. One of the top privileges of such a hotel is the option to join their Club Class – essentially providing you with some of the most exquisite of experiences available while you spend your nights at this beautiful hotel.
The hotel itself offers a whole host of amenities including a year-round outdoor swimming pool, free wifi throughout, dedicated smoking sections and shops on site. Not only this, but the Cordis Auckland also offers special dietary meals on request with their 24 hour room service including the option to have breakfast in your room. With an onsite wellness centre and spa, you can keep up on your exercise routines as well as unwind and take a load off with a spa treatment. For those in town on business, the hotel also has a business centre where you can photocopy, fax and print documents. Their laundry service and trouser press/ironing service is useful for those who have been travelling extensively with their dress clothes and need to have them looking in tip top condition for events and meetings.
The Cordis is home to an impressive restaurant known simply as ‘Eight’. This multi-cuisine restaurant hosts eight different cooking stations, all run by different chefs who specialise in creating local and international cuisines, so you will find something to suit your taste, regardless of what it is. After dinner, retire to the Lobby Lounge for drinks and a chat about your day with new friends. If you want to add a touch of class to your stay, why not book a high tea at Cordis in this very space, the perfect addition to any stay at this hotel.
Conveniently located on Symonds Street, a main thoroughfare through Auckland toward the bay area, the Cordis is perfectly located for those who are both interested in getting around on foot as well as by bike, taxi, transit or car service such as Uber.
Why I Recommend Staying At The Cordis Auckland
Overall, I cannot fault any stay at the Cordis Auckland. This hotel with all its amazing amenities, stylish decor and friendly, helpful staff is an absolute gem. If you’re looking for the ultimate hotel experience in this beautiful, welcoming New Zealand city, look no further than the Cordis Auckland. You won’t regret it.
