1. Garrya Tongsai Bay Samui
Tongsai Bay, with its golden sand and turquoise waves, is Koh Samui’s most serene beach and is only accessible to guests of the Garrya Tongsai Bay Samui. This hotel was the first ever five-star hotel to be built on the popular island and remains a fan favorite with its loyal visitors today, and for good reason. Koh Samui isn’t a secret island, meaning this hotel is an extremely popular spot with travelers.
Garrya balances nostalgic beach living with modern amenities, featuring luxurious rooms that boast calming tones, outdoor bathtubs, and varnished wooden floors. Guests can enjoy great on-site facilities, including a spa, beachfront massage cabanas, and three different restaurants that use fresh garden produce in their meals.
2. Kapuhala
The stunning boutique hotel of Kapuhala feels more like an Airbnb stay than a luxury hotel in the best way possible! A hit with those looking for both relaxation and wellness during their getaway, it boasts fresh, Sicilian-inspired dining at its on-site open-air restaurant.
Guests of this hotel can stay in one of the four light-filled “tiny houses”. Alternatively, the five safari-style tents offer fold-up sides so you can enjoy the breeze of the ocean (a huge hit with those who love glamping!) The relaxed ambiance and friendly staff make this a truly rejuvenating stay.
3. Six Senses Samui
Situated on a jungle-covered headland in northeast Koh Samui, this eco-conscious retreat offers 66 multi-level villas with bamboo walls, thatched roofs, and private pools that create a luxury treehouse feeling. This chic yet playful design combines natural wood with bright and colorful accents to emphasize its modern style.
There are two on-site pools at this hotel, including a lively beachside swimming spot and a gorgeous infinity pool. There’s a great selection of other amenities, too, including a scenic dining spot, a gorgeous spa, and even an on-site farm!
4. Ritz Carlton
Located on a 58-acre former coconut plantation, this expansive hotel offers a great selection of amenities that guests of all ages adore. The kids club, for example, has ball pits, slides, and outdoor crazy golf, so the little ones can be kept entertained whilst you unwind at the Spa Village (which features eight treatment rooms and a serene adults-only pool with private cabanas). This makes it one of the best resorts in Thailand.
There’s a great selection of activities on offer for the grown-ups here, too, including Muay Thai boxing and tennis. There are also some great spots for relaxing, such as the pools and beach. Dining at this hotel is also incredibly varied, ranging from a Thai street food market-style dining experience at Talta to fine-dining and tasting menus at The View!
5. Samujana
Samujana is home to 23 contemporary villas that sit on a floral hill in northeast Koh Samui. Each blends luxury and privacy perfectly and offers breathtaking views, making them a perfect retreat for families, couples, and groups of friends alike! If you’re looking for a truly private luxury getaway, though, Koh Kood may be a better choice of destination.
Each villa has its own unique features, so be sure to keep this in mind when booking to ensure you curate your perfect vacation experience. A couple of examples include Villa 12, which has its own boxing gym, basketball court, games room, and cinema. Then there’s Villa 30, which has 360-degree views and quite possibly the best infinity pool in all of Thailand!
Aside from the great amenities offered at each of the villas, there’s a selection of great communal open-air spaces and sunlit pools that guests are welcome to make use of.
