My Czech Beer Spa Prague Experience. RECOMMENDED!

I was in celebration mode. I had just summited Mount Everest and it was time to kick back and relax. Jaa and I were traveling around Europe. It was her dream to visit Prague, and although I had been a few times as a broke backpacker (those were the days), this time we’d be doing it on much lovelier budget. I didn’t want to run around a million churches. I had done all that, and it bores Jaa to tears. So the number one thing I wanted to do this time was the Czech Beer Spa Prague experience. Where you BATHE IN CEZCH BEER, WHILE DRINKING UNLIMITED CZECH BEER.

The number 1 thing to do in Prague (in my opinion anyway!)

They say Prague in the beer capital drinking of the world (as an Irishman, I may dispute that!). And while the clock tower and Prague Bridge may be more famous, for anyone who has already done the tourist stuff in Prague, then SURELY the number 1 thing to do in Prague is the Czech Beer Spa Prague Experience.

I’d heard rumours about beer spas before, but this was my first time diving in. Literally. And I can tell you now, it lived up to the hype. Whether you’re a couple looking to do something fun and quirky (but still kind of boujee). Or a few mates fancying an afternoon of luxury drinking and banter, this is a Czech experience you shouldn’t miss.

What Even Is a Beer Spa?

So for those unfamiliar, the idea of a beer spa might sound like a gimmick. Sitting in a wooden hot tub filled with beer ingredients (hops, malt, and yeast) while chugging as many cold beers as you can from the tap right next to your tub? Surely that’s just an Instagram stunt, right?

Wrong. It’s genuinely amazing.

The best beer spa in Prague?

The place we chose, and trust me, this is the one you want, was the Original Beer Spa. They have 3 locations. I as in the one on Zitna street.

There are quite a few around Prague trying to copy the concept, but this is the OG, and you can feel the difference in quality the moment you walk in.

The Experience: From Check-In to Chill Out

We booked a private room for two, which is basically a little beer-soaked slice of heaven. It had two massive oak tubs filled with the beer blend, a roaring fire in the corner (vibes), and our own unlimited personal beer tap that you access from sitting in the tub! Pouring fresh, cold Krušovice lager non-stop. It was classy but relaxed, traditional but not at all stuffy.

You start with a little intro from the staff (who are super friendly by the way), where they explain what’s in the beer bath. You’re not sitting in actual foamy lager, don’t worry. It’s warm water infused with brewer’s yeast, malt, and hops, known for all their supposed healing properties. Whether that’s legit or not, who knows. But my skin felt great after. Although I was a bit tipsy, so who knows!

Once they show you how the taps work (self-service – dangerous!), they leave you to it. You get the room all to yourself for an hour, uninterrupted. No awkward spa staff floating around, just you (naked), your beer bath, your mate or partner, and endless cold lager. I can’t stress how much I loved that privacy.

After a good soak (and a few refills), you hop out and relax on a bed of straw in a heated alcove. Apparently it helps the ingredients absorb into your skin. Personally, I think it’s just an excuse to lie back and feel like a pampered Czech farm animal. But I was into it.

Luxury That Doesn’t Take Itself Too Seriously

One thing I really appreciated was the balance the Beer Spa struck between luxury and fun.

It’s high-end. The rooms are beautiful, spotless, and styled with old-school Czech decor. But it’s also not taking itself too seriously. You’re drinking beer in a tub, after all.

That mix of comfort and quirk makes it such a good idea for couples. You can make it romantic, relaxing, or just hilarious, depending on your vibe. And if you’re travelling with friends? Even better. They have larger rooms for groups too, where you can all sit in tubs like beer-loving Roman emperors.

Also worth noting. The place smells amazing. You’d expect it to stink of old yeast or stale hops, but nope. It’s more herbal, earthy, spa-like, and very calming.

Good to Know: Practical Stuff

• Price: It’s not super cheap, but you’re getting a private spa room with unlimited beer. We paid around $180 for the session for 2. Worth every dollar.
• Length: The standard experience is 1 hour (about 25 minutes in the tub, and the rest in the straw bed). That was just right for us.
• Drinks: Unlimited Krušovice beer, light or dark. You serve yourself straight from the tap.
• Privacy: 10/10. You’re left alone the entire time, and the door locks. No interruptions.
• Cleanliness: Immaculate. This is luxury, not a stag-do mess.
• Extras: You can add massages, or buy beer-based cosmetics afterwards. We skipped the massage but did grab some of their beer soap to take home.

FAQ: Beer Spa Prague

Is it actually beer in the tub?

Kinda of but Not quite. It looks and smells like it. But it’s actually a warm bath infused with natural ingredients used in beer brewing (hops, yeast, malt). It’s not alcoholic or sticky, and it’s filtered after every use.

Can you really drink as much as you want?

Yes. And they won’t judge you either. Just remember, sitting in a hot tub while drinking makes things hit a bit harder.

Final Thoughts: Is the Czech Beer Spa Prague Worth It?

1000% yes. Jaa barely drinks and still loved it.

No question. the beer spa was one of the weirdest, most wonderful things I’ve ever done while travelling. Jaa and I had such a laugh, and it was also surprisingly relaxing. You don’t often get to say “remember when we bathed in beer in Prague?”. But now we can.

Would I do it again? 100%. And I’d recommend it to anyone looking for something beyond the typical tourist traps. It’s a proper Czech experience. It’s traditional, indulgent, and just the right amount of mad.
