My Etihad Airways Business Class Review
I flew 70 times in 2024. I think maybe the most I’ve ever flown. And with finally working out how to use airmiles, upgrades etc I managed to fly Business Class 15 times. Again the most ever. One of the best experience for me, was flying from Abu Dhabi to Dublin, home to Ireland on the B777. So here is my Etihad Airways Business Class Review for that, and a general review of the airline, the lounge in Abu Dhabi and a few other bits and pieces. This is even better nowadays with the Etihad free stopover, I’ll discus that too.
With the new generation of top airlines, traveling isn’t just about the destination. It’s also about the literal journey. And when that journey involves Etihad Airways’ business class, you know you’re in for something special. Whether it’s the luxury of their seats, the impeccable service, or the promise of a free stopover in Abu Dhabi, Etihad makes flying a part of the adventure.

My Personal Etihad Airways Business Class Review
I flew Etihad business class from Delhi to Abu Dhabi, and then onwards to Dublin in August 2024. From the moment I stepped on board, I knew this wasn’t your average airline experience.
The main review is the Abu Dhabi to Dublin flight, on the B777 as that’s the reason I booked it, to be on that plane. I do a short review of Etihad Business CLass on the A320 Delhi to Abu Dhabi at the bottom too.
B777 Cabin and Seat Experience
The business class cabin felt more like a private lounge in the sky. With a 1-2-1 seating configuration, every seat has direct aisle access. A massive plus for someone who hates clambering over people (or being clambered over).
The leather seats reclined into fully flat beds, with enough space for my 6’1” frame to stretch out comfortably.
Add to that the soft bedding and pillow, and you’re guaranteed a good night’s sleep—or, in my case, a Netflix binge on the 18-inch HD entertainment screen.
In-Flight Dining
Food on airplanes can be hit or miss, but Etihad’s dining options were next-level.
Think restaurant-quality meals served at 35,000 feet. My vegetarian meal was delicious and paired perfectly with a glass of French wine. Bonus points for the onboard chef who seemed genuinely interested in ensuring everyone’s meal was perfect.
The Etihad Lounge in Abu Dhabi
During my layover in Abu Dhabi, I got to experience the Etihad Lounge for business class travelers.
It was like stepping into a luxury hotel lobby. There were gourmet food stations, a spa for quick treatments, and even a quiet room for napping.
If you’re ever passing through Abu Dhabi, the lounge alone is reason enough to consider Etihad Airways.

Etihad Airways Air Miles Programme
Etihad’s loyalty program, Etihad Guest, is one of the best out there. You can earn miles not only by flying but also through their partner hotels, car rentals, and shopping platforms.
Redeeming miles is straightforward, and you can use them for flights, upgrades, or even luxury experiences in Abu Dhabi.
Etihad Airways Free Stopover
One of the coolest perks of flying with Etihad is the free Abu Dhabi stopover program. If you’ve got a layover in Abu Dhabi, you can stay in a 3- or 4-star hotel for free for up to two nights. This is an amazing way to break up a long journey and explore Abu Dhabi without spending extra on accommodation. You can visit iconic landmarks like the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque or chill on the beaches.
Etihad Airways’ Abu Dhabi Stopover Program offers travelers a fantastic way to explore the city when flying through Abu Dhabi. Here’s a breakdown of what the program includes and the differences for passengers traveling in economy or premium cabins:
Free Stopover Program Details:
The program is designed to encourage passengers to enjoy a layover in Abu Dhabi. The key benefits vary slightly based on the class of travel:
1. Economy Class Passengers:
- Eligible for up to two complimentary nights at select 3- or 4-star hotels.
- Examples of hotels: Premier Inn Abu Dhabi International Airport and Ramada Abu Dhabi Corniche.
- Breakfast is not included in the complimentary offer.
- Transfers between the airport and the hotel are not included but can be arranged at additional cost.
2. Business and First-Class Passengers:
- Can enjoy luxury hotels with complimentary stays (typically up to two nights).
- Examples of hotels: InterContinental Abu Dhabi and Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi.
- Breakfast is often included, depending on the property.
- Transfers are typically offered as part of the premium travel experience, but this should be confirmed directly with the airline.
Paid Stopover Packages
For travelers looking to extend their stay or upgrade their accommodation, Etihad offers paid stopover packages:
• Packages start at $50 USD per night for upgraded hotels and additional nights.
• Luxury packages for First and Business Class passengers can include stays in 5-star properties for around $100–$150 USD per night.
Key Details to Consider:
• Transfers: Complimentary transfers are not typically included in the free stopover program for economy passengers but may be part of the experience for premium travelers.

• Booking: Travelers must book their stopover in advance through Etihad’s official website or travel agents. Availability depends on the hotel and season.
Why Choose the Stopover Program?
The stopover program is a great way to:
- Explore Abu Dhabi’s attractions, like the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque or Ferrari World.
- Break up a long-haul journey with a mini-vacation.
- Enjoy luxury accommodations at no extra cost (or minimal expense).
For more details and to book, you can visit Etihad’s Stopover Program.
Etihad Airways Baggage
With Etihad airways baggage policies, business class travelers get generous allowances—typically two pieces of checked luggage, each up to 32kg, plus a cabin bag and personal item. This is perfect for people like me who travel with way too many gadgets and a few extra pairs of shoes I never wear.
And Etihad airways baggage for economy is for most destinations, a total checked baggage weight of 30 kg (66 lbs). You can distribute this weight across multiple bags, provided no single bag exceeds 32 kg (70 lbs) .
Cabin Baggage Allowance:
• Economy Class passengers may carry one cabin bag weighing up to 7 kg (15 lbs). The maximum dimensions for the cabin bag are 56 cm x 36 cm x 23 cm.
Etihad Airways A320 Business Class Review (Delhi to Abu Dhabi)
Etihad Airways A320 Business Class Review (2-2-2 Configuration)
When it comes to short-haul flights in business class, Etihad Airways continues to set a high standard. My recent flight from Delhi to Abu Dhabi on their Airbus A320 business class, configured in a 2-2-2 layout, proved to be a luxurious experience, even on this smaller aircraft.
Cabin and Seat Comfort
The 2-2-2 layout in the business class cabin felt intimate and well-suited to the A320’s size. While not as spacious as the wide-body options, the leather seats were wide and plush, offering a comfortable recline and ample legroom. While they don’t lie flat, the angled recline is more than adequate for short-haul flights, especially when paired with a soft blanket and pillow provided by Etihad.
Each seat had an adjustable headrest and decent privacy for a narrow-body plane. Although the cabin’s design was understated compared to larger aircraft, it exuded a clean and premium feel.
In-Flight Service
Etihad’s cabin crew delivered exceptional service. From the moment I boarded, I was greeted warmly, and throughout the flight, the team was attentive and professional. Pre-departure beverages, including champagne and fresh juices, were served promptly, setting the tone for the flight.
The dining experience was a highlight. The menu featured a range of dishes, and my vegetarian option was flavorful and well-presented. Served on fine china, the meal was paired with a selection of beverages, including Etihad’s curated wine offerings. The quality felt comparable to what you’d expect on a long-haul sector.
Entertainment and Amenities
While the A320 doesn’t have the latest in-flight entertainment systems found on Etihad’s wide-body aircraft, the personal screens were large enough for the cabin size, and the selection of movies, TV shows, and music was solid. Noise-canceling headphones and amenity kits added a thoughtful touch to the overall experience.
For a short flight, the 2-2-2 business class on Etihad’s A320 is an excellent choice. While the lack of lie-flat seats might deter some travelers, the comfort, service, and dining make it a superior way to travel. Whether you’re connecting onward or staying in Abu Dhabi, this flight delivers a slice of the luxury Etihad is known for.
Etihad Airways Economy Review
Okay, not everyone can splurge on business class, but even Etihad’s economy class is impressive. With comfortable seats, quality in-flight meals, and great entertainment options, it’s a solid choice for travelers on a budget.
Plus, you can still take advantage of the free Abu Dhabi stopover program—win-win!
