From Vegas to Atlantic City – USA’s best gaming highlights
The United States has no shortage of destinations for travellers who enjoy the energy and excitement of a casino. Las Vegas might be the obvious place to start, but the country’s gaming scene stretches far beyond the famous Strip. From enormous resorts in Connecticut and Oklahoma to the bright lights of Atlantic City, a casino-themed trip can include entertainment, restaurants, golf, beaches and plenty more alongside the gaming floor.
Las Vegas remains difficult to beat, especially with resorts such as the Bellagio and ARIA offering very different experiences. The Bellagio brings together luxury, fine dining, shopping, live shows and its famous fountains, while ARIA has around 50,000 square feet of gaming space. Visitors can find all the top casino games, along with thousands of slots and video poker machines, with new titles regularly introduced, making Vegas a natural starting point for an American gaming adventure.
Travel across the country to Atlantic City, and the atmosphere changes, but the scale remains impressive. The New Jersey destination is home to the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa, which has nearly 3,500 slot machines and more than 180 gaming tables. Poker fans are particularly well served thanks to a room featuring more than 80 tables and daily tournaments. The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino is another major attraction, combining a vast gaming area with performances from internationally recognised musicians.
However, some of America’s biggest surprises can be found away from its most famous casino cities. Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut has roughly 340,000 square feet of gaming space, more than 6,000 slot machines and nearly 400 tables. Its enormous bingo hall can accommodate over 5,000 players at once. Visitors can also explore around 40 restaurants, two golf courses and live entertainment during their stay.
Oklahoma offers another unexpected heavyweight. WinStar World Casino and Resort has more than 500,000 square feet dedicated to gaming, with slots, table games and bingo all available. Live entertainment ranges from music performances to MMA competitions, demonstrating how modern casino resorts have developed into complete leisure destinations rather than places solely focused on gambling.
For travellers seeking something different again, Island View Casino Resort combines gaming with the beaches of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The property has two casinos, more than 2,600 slots and 49 tables, a spa, a golf course, and live entertainment. Over in Arizona, Talking Stick Resort & Casino offers more than 50 table games, 900 slot machines, golf courses, swimming pools and live music.
Even Reno deserves a place on the itinerary. Known as “The Biggest Little City in the World”, it is home to more than 20 casinos, including Atlantis Casino Resort Spa, where visitors can choose from over 1,400 machines and 39 table games.
From the glamour of the Bellagio to the immense gaming floors of Foxwoods and WinStar, America’s casino landscape is remarkably varied. Whether a trip involves the neon lights of Vegas, Atlantic City’s famous gaming scene or an unexpected regional resort, there is far more to discover than slots and tables alone.
