Alaska is so much more than a fabulous road trip destination. America’s last frontier is a stunning tourism hotspot, but it’s also a great place to live for so many reasons.

Alaska is home to some of the most unique and breathtaking landscapes. With dense forests, snowy mountains, an abundant tundra, and notably cold temperatures, the icy destination has a world of adventure to offer tourists and residents alike.

With that said, if you’re still wondering why you should consider moving to Alaska, we’ve rounded up a list of the most compelling reasons to choose this destination as your next home.

You’ll Get Paid To Move There

There are a few select states that will pay you to move there, and Alaska is one of them. The state’s Permanent Fund Dividend Program pays full-time residents royalties from the program’s earnings each year. This program intends to benefit future Alaskans by welcoming new Alaskans.

Property Is Affordable

As though it’s not compelling enough to get paid to move to Alaska, you’ll also enjoy the fact that real estate here is fairly affordable.

A median home listing sits at around $400,000 in 2022; this is substantially cheaper than median property listings in most other states.

No Income Tax And No Sales Tax

This state boasts the lowest taxes by far. While full-time residents are not expected to pay a state income tax, there is also no sales tax.

Even so, residents still need to pay property tax and a few others, excluding income and sales tax can make a substantial difference to anyone’s finances.

It’s A Uniquely Beautiful Destination

It is undeniable that Alaska’s scenic beauty is unique; there’s no other state quite like Alaska. The snow-covered mountain tops, breathtaking Aleutian islands, and dozens of volcanoes all make Alaska a beautifully unique region.

The Northern Lights

The Northern Lights are a marvel that brings masses of tourists to Alaska and Norway each year. And even though this is more of a reason to visit the state, having the Northern Lights outside your front door is a more than convincing reason to move to this state.

A Relaxed Life

Life in Alaska is pretty relaxed. There’s genuinely no need to keep up with the latest fashion trends, and you can bring your dog with you to most places. The residents here are exceptionally relaxed and don’t pass judgment in general.

Safety

Alaska is also a significantly safe state. The crime rates are low compared to most other states. This factor makes Alaska an excellent choice for anyone that’s after a better quality of life in terms of everyday safety.

Low crime rates, no income or sales tax responsibilities, a holiday on the doorstep, affordable property, and an annual payment for full-time residents are all undeniably convincing reasons to move to Alaska. If you’ve made up your mind about relocating here, the next step is to evaluate the job market, find a home, and plan the big move.
