Must-Have Digital Nomads apps to Work Remotely

Being a digital nomad isn’t all tropical islands and counting your money. You have to make it work first. And luckily for you guys, that’s getting easier and easier thanks the huge digital nomad toolkit available for new nomads. So many apps to help you get where you want to be. So let’s look at the essential digital nomad apps you need to get started:

Travel and moving around apps

Even the most spontaneous nomads know the importance of planning their journeys, especially when it comes to selecting flights. It’s simple, but be sure to use a combo of digital nomad apps google flights, matrix, skyscanner and the airline itself before bookings. And Points.me is the best digital nomad apps to find out how best to use your airmiles.

Getting to a new city is one thing, but living there is another. Even digital nomads have bills to pay and groceries to buy. So it’s crucial to have the best knowledge about local living conditions.

Gathering information from multiple sources can be challenging to manage, but apps like Teleport and NomadList are great for comparing the local living costs of different locations. The latter also includes information on weather and safety.

Once you’ve landed in your new temporary home city, you’ll need a place to work. Every digital nomad knows how frustrating it can be to hunt for wifi, so use Workfrom to find coworking spaces and worker-friendly cafes.

Productivity and work-life apps

Digital nomad apps, and online productivity tools have become increasingly important for everyone, but for digital nomads, they are absolutely essential.

Managing your work projects is another critical aspect of being a digital nomad. Trello is a fantastic tool that is both easy to use and easy on the eyes. It utilizes a system of cards to organize any type of work you may need to do.

However, it is important not to overcrowd your project management app with every little thought that comes to mind. It is a good idea to store your notes separately. While napkins and notepads can work, you may want an app that can store your list items on multiple devices.

Evernote is an excellent cloud-based tool for storing ideas. It also has the added feature of being able to record audio and attach images to your notes.

Lastly, a good to-do list is indispensable. Todoist is one of the great digital nomad apps that works well for following a straightforward list, as well as categorizing your items by type and deadline.

You will also need storage for easy file sharing and backing up your work. Laptops tend to disappear on the road. Dropbox is the most obvious solution, and for transferring large files, you can try the beautifully designed WeTransfer.

Finances apps

This one is easy. Make sure you have a creditcard with visa AND mastercard (they work in different places). Also make sure you have an American Express, so you can get those sweet airmiles. On that note, make sure you know how air miles work, don’t miss out on free travel! Also open both Revolut and Wise accounts so you can keep money in different currencies.

And when it comes to setting up your freelancing invoicing (check out my xolo review on how to do that super easily), or small business, then check out the all-in-all tool for digital nomads. It’ll keep you on the straight and narrow!

Ok folks, I don’t want to bombard you with toooo many digital nomad apps. So that should give you a leg up for now!
