A visit in the UK during the winter months is quite entertaining as there is lots of fun in the air. You can have a nice time at the British casinos and earn some fast bucks. You can also roam around and do some shopping at the best Christmas markets in Britain.

  • Bath Christmas Market

 

This market was voted UK’s favourite Christmas market in 2017. 151 brightly decorated chalets line the Georgian street. Behind the market, there is UK’s Roman baths of the Romans and the abbey of the 16th-century which has got a magnificent look. The atmosphere of the place lends a festive aura which attracts people and makes the place so popular amongst the residents. 

The traditional wooden stalls abound in beautiful products ranging from jewellery that is handmade to beautiful socks to wonderful tasty cheeses and gingerbread, you have a gift for everyone here. The lunch times and weekends witness heavy footfall. Mornings or weekday evenings show slightly lesser crowd.  The market is famous for choirs, carollers and musicians who blend the market an air of festivity.

2.Winchester Cathedral Christmas Market 

A market that attracts over 350,000 visitors a year, it is situated in the historic Inner Close of the cathedral. Though it is German-inspired, a good number of British craftsmen are seen in the market. There is a wonderful ice ring that surrounds the market. 

A magical experience was witnessed by all last year when beautiful hand-crafted lanterns were paraded from the Cathedral to the Outer Close. This year, the Lantern Parade will take place on 28 November 2019.

3. Birmingham’s Frankfurt Christmas Market

You will be surprised to know that Birmingham is an internationally-renowned Christmas market. The market is full of visitors who drink warm glühwein to evade the winter chill.  Apart from selling different types of Christmas decorations and wooden toys, some wonderful treats like bratwurst and brezel are on offer too.

You will see happy shoppers at the stalls on Victoria Square and New Street. One can also view Birmingham from the Big Wheel.

  1. Glasgow’s George Square Christmas Market

Glasgow’s markets are a great place to shop for this year’s Christmas. George Square Market and St Enoch Square Christmas Market are the two spaces there with 50 stalls in each. The highlights of the Christmas market include, Italian nougat, painted Russian dolls and woollen jumpers.

  1. Caerphilly Christmas Market

This Christmas market lasts for a week, which has a medieval touch that lends the look of the style of 13th century. Though small, the market has over 100 stalls. These stalls offer a tasty selection of cheeses, gins and chocolates. A variety of Christmas crafts, decorations, crafts, gifts and jewellery are also available in the market.

  1. Leeds Castle Market in Kent

Here the Cedar Lawn overlooks the Leeds Castle, which has the resplendent market. The market abounds in seasonal gifts, tree decorations, and Christmas special food and drink. Visitors will be enthralled by the display of birds of prey display, and the traditional funfair rides.

  1. Christkindel market, Leeds

The city’s Millennium Square is transformed into a beautiful winter village, which houses a majestic Christmas market. The chalets display gifts from authentic German traders. There are numerous jewellery stands to choose from. Buyers can also buy their choice of bratwurst, goulash and schnitzels.

Visit the market for a real treat of traditional food and drink and to spend a fabulous evening.

  1. Albert Square Christmas Market

The main market hub in the north is situated in Albert Square. A long line of market stalls are found in the area which has Christmas gifts ranging from amber jewellery to Belgian chocolate to French soaps. In 2017, this market was the most Instagrammed Christmas market in the UK.

 Other than the Albert Square market, there are countless other markets spread over the city like the Market Street, Cathedral Square, Corn Exchange and the Exchange Square.  All these are central locations and have several festive markets for visitors to choose from.
