The world has had to get pretty inventive over the past few months due to staying at home during the Covid-19 pandemic. I have to admit that the first couple of weeks were an absolute breeze, it was nice waking up whenever I wanted, watching movies, playing on the Playstation and other things I wouldn’t usually do during the day. If you’re like me then you soon realised that we needed to have our days planned out because this is not going to end soon. 

When I drew up rough guideline of what I was going to do each day life at home improved no end. Without structure the days seemed to drag on and last longer than usual, now they go quickly and I also feel like I’ve achieved things during the day. 

We are all in different situations so the time of the day that we get things done may differ, so instead of giving a daily routine I’ve listed a few activities that help me pass the time.

Talk To People

If you live alone tit’s easy to then this is so important because your daily interaction comes from being outside and meeting people at work or socially. Now that’s not an option you need to make an extra effort to talk to people each day. I found that it’s easy to get groups of mates online at the same time for a good catchup, I’ve had some great chats with the boys from school and we’ve all shared a beer over a Zoom call.

Cook From Scratch

When life was all about rushing from A to B to C, I was always ordering food in or rustling something up from packs. Now that I have more time it’s great being able to find recipes I like the look of, get all the fresh ingredients together and spend time preparing a tasty meal. This passes the time and is also very therapeutic, not only are you making sure your eating something good but you also get away from technology and have time to yourself. 


Be honest, when was the last time you had proper clear out of your home? You may have never done it because we usually only have time to do it when moving home. Well, you’ve got tons of time now to go through all the cupboards and draws decluttering. If you’re a hoarder it might be tough but it’s well worth it, the added bonus is that you may discover some things you’ve forgotten about.
