1) THE HISTORY

Perhaps you’ve read and seen so much about Vietnam in storybooks and movies and you feel you know quite so much about the country. Well, let me tell you this, there is no better way to learn about Vietnam’s amazing history than to take a trip down to the country itself. Not only will a trip to the beautiful cities of Vietnam give you a great insight into the fascinating history of this country, the majority of them are quite budget friendly too. If you really want to become vast at Vietnamese history then you should visit the right places in the country when you travel down to Vietnam. Places like War Remnants Museum, Hoa Lo Prison, and Ho Chi Minh Museum are a great way to start. These places will expose you to some war pre-and-post war history, some of which probably relates to your home country.

2) THE PRICES

This is another mouth-watering reason why Vietnam should be prioritized on your travel bucket list. Visiting Vietnam’s major cities is never going to drill a hole in your wallet – unless of course you want it to – just like some other places in the world. Backpacking across Vietnam is incredibly cheap, and reports have it that Vietnamese prices are way cheaper than you will find in some budget-friendly countries like Thailand. Be it accommodation, food, transportation, gifts, tours, camping, and what have you, Vietnam can serve you all at a ridiculously cheap price. For instance, visiting Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh Museum (one of the biggest historical spots in the country) will only cost you about ₤1.30. Talk about feeding and shopping? Don’t even let us get started on those because Vietnam offers everything at a low-cost, and guess what; Vietnamese dishes are absolutely delicious, not to mention their cheap and savory street food.

3) STUNNING SCENERY

I know this is probably what you’ve been longing to read on this post and guess what; Vietnam never disappoints. Vietnam is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful places on earth thanks to its amazing sceneries. The contrast in stunning scenery in this fascinating country is second to none. From eye-catching coastline to gorgeous greeneries, not to forget the monstrous mountains, Vietnam is surely a place that will blow your mind away. Remember those motorcycles you see in movies about Vietnam? Those are the same ones you will use (if you wish though) to explore one Vietnam, while also enjoying the amazing sceneries around you.

4) ARCHITECTURE

Ever read the phrase “home away from home” before? Well, the architecture in Vietnam is surely a testimony to that. The buildings, apartments, and structures you will find in Vietnam will no doubt remind of so many similar ones you’ve seen in Europe. This is because Vietnam is built on a blend of ancient Asian and French designs. Many of the buildings that were built during the French colonial days are still standing today, which means you will come across so many European-like houses. When you are finally ready to travel to Vietnam, be sure to check out these amazing architectures because your journey wouldn’t be perfect without a photograph at some of them.

  • Saigon – Opera House
  • Saigon – Central Post Office
  • Hoi An – The pagodas within the ancient town
  • Hoi An – The streets of the ancient town
  • Hanoi – the old quarter and of course
  • Dalat – Train Station

5) CAPTIVATING SPOTS

Now this is where Vietnam excels in comparison to its neighboring countries. Each day in Vietnam can be different and this is because each city in the country is different from one another and this difference is what makes Vietnam a very interesting country to travel to. One day you are on the mountains, the next you are on an Island, and the day after you can be in a bustling city. Yes you read that well; there are Islands to visit in Vietnam. Make sure you visit these places before you move out of Vietnam:

  • Saigon
  • Dalat
  • Nha Thang
  • Ninh Van
  • Hoi An
  • Da Nang
  • Hue
  • Sa Pa
  • Phu Quoc
  • Ba Na Hills (The Golden Bridge) – the sight of this spot is extremely exceptional

6) THE COFFEE

If you think you love coffee so well, then Vietnam is the country for you. If you didn’t know about this before, well now you know. The country serves some of the best coffee in the world, and guess what; Vietnam is the second-largest coffee exporter, after Brazil, in the world. They are renowned for a type of coffee known as ‘Robusta’ coffee, which is a bean with a very strong distinguished taste.

7) DALAT

Da lat alone is a very good reason for anyone to visit Vietnam. The city is refreshingly beautiful, and at 1,500 meters above sea level, it gives you an astoundingly cool temperature in comparison to the rest of Vietnam. Thanks to the French colonial effect, Da lat can be described as what a European village would look like in the winter of the ‘90s, minus the snow. A city surrounded by flourishing flowers, beautiful lakes, and wonderful waterfalls, Dalat is surely going to make you want to travel to Vietnam again and again. Try to picture an old Vietnam combined with an old French village, and poooof you have Da Lat.
