Looking for Things to do in Florida? Not Anymore

In Florida, aka the Sunshine State, you’ll have the opportunity to relive a bit of your stress, reconnect with your family, and make a wealth of new memories that can last forever. Florida features more than 800 miles of fantastic beaches and a host of theme parks that are famous across the planet. These are just the start of things when it comes to fun vacations in Florida.

The Emerald Coast

The Florida shoreline along the upper regions of the Gulf of Mexico is called the Emerald Coast due to the color of the water, however, you could just as easily call it the Sugar Coast due to its fine white powder sand that’s just perfect for families picnicking on the beach or for bands to set up their equipment under a cover like an Ins’TenT custom canopy before they rock out with the crowds. Destin and Okaloosa Island both offer picnic shelters with tin roofs and a few boardwalks that stretch out across the seemingly endless dunes. That’s just the beginning.

Kayaking

If you’re in search of amazing excursions in Florida, you can also find water-related jaunts off the beach. Have you ever heard of John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park? This location is famous for being the first undersea park in the country and it features things like a diverse marine life and even a coral reef. If you decide to come here, you can entertain yourself with things like hiking, snorkeling, camping, kayaking, and even taking tours in boats with glass bottoms.

Adventure

If you’re looking for a fun adventure in the panhandle, Pensacola might be the ideal destination. Aside from world-famous beaches such as Perdido Key, you can also catch the best view in the city by climbing to the top of the Pensacola Lighthouse and Museum. If you’re into the macabre, they even offer ghost tours. Then again, if your eyes tend to drift toward the sky, you absolutely must go to the Pensacola Naval Air Station and check out where the Blue Angels take flight. You can visit the National Naval Aviation Museum while you’re there. That particular museum has all sorts of things to interest even those who aren’t fans of museums.

Clearwater

If you want to stay on the Gulf side and go about to the middle of the state, Clearwater is always a good option. You can get close to some of the marine life at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium if you like. This aquarium is home to Winter the Dolphin, who happens to be the star of those Dolphin Tale movies. For those who’d like to ditch the responsibility of driving while on Vacay, you can always leave your car at the hotel and hop on the Clearwater Beach Trolley.

Springs

Florida isn’t just surrounded by water, there’s water all through the state in the form of rivers, springs, lakes, and streams. Some of these springs are what they call First Magnitude due to the amount of water that flows through them on a daily basis. Silver Springs is one of them. These springs are popular spots for both swimming and viewing wildlife and are home to exotic creatures such as the manatee. People can kayak, tube, or canoe on the water, as well as snorkeling and swimming. They can also dive, camp, and indulge in a bit of wildlife photography if they so choose.

When people think of Florida, many times, the first thing that comes to mind is beaches, followed closely by hurricanes, and then Disney World. The truth is that Florida has so much more to offer that it’s really a treasure to visit.
