Just because you don’t live in a penthouse in New York doesn’t mean you can’t take a date to a romantic restaurant. Here are a few places that might seem expensive but are really within your means.

This beautiful American bistro is dark (not dodgy), warm, romantic AND affordable. They offer great food, burgers and fries done right, and delicious cocktails with names like Grass Monkey and Heart of the City. And let’s not forget the luscious desserts like a flowerless chocolate cake.

T-Bar Steak and Lounge

Now, though T-Bar is as fancy and expensive as it looks, there are a few reasonably priced and delicious items up on offer. There’s a yummy fresh-from-the-oven pizza, delectable tamarind glazed chicken wings and the most surprisingly delicious iceberg salad. Then there are the drinks with exciting names like Ginger Martini and the T-Bar Cosmo and, once again, the desserts like their lip-smacking Lemon Cheesecake!

Giano Restaurant

A little Italian eatery, this rustic and magical venue lends itself to being very romantic as it’s fully candlelit and cosy. With a delicious tiramisu and their extensive wine selection, including imported Italian beer, this is a great place for after movie drinks and dessert.

Another fantastically cosy and romantic Italian find, you and your date will be served proper human sized portions of pastas and desserts. They’re like Italian manna from heaven and really reasonable as well.

The Dead Rabbit

Don’t let the name deter you. This little restaurant is absolutely fantastic. The setting, the food, the cocktails; everything you could need to make a great impression on your date. And, because it’s on this list, they’re fairly inexpensive as well. Who could say no to pork sliders and a cocktail called ‘Just a Little Cloudy’?!

  1. Ooo – great post! Pity I didn’t see this a couple of weeks ago. Jus got back from a trip to NYC, and it would have been great to know these then. Having said that, I don’t think we could have fit in any more eating if we’d tried. I’m sure I put on a few pounds while I was there!
