One of the most exciting trends in modern times is the one which allows many workers to be geographically mobile.

Right now, there are many location independent workers scattered across the globe. These people are freelance writers, artists, graphic designers, computer programmers and basically anyone who doesn’t have to work in a set office or in a certain city.

For a lot of people this is an ideal way of working and living but where are the best places to live? With the entire planet to choose from it can be tough finding the ideal spot. One place well worth considering is the idyllic Caribbean retreat of the Cayman Islands. So what would a location independent worker find here?

A Laid Back Place to Live

As this is the Caribbean, you aren’t going to be expecting rush hour traffic and people rushing about from one place to another, are you? The Cayman Islands offer a laid back lifestyle which can perfect for anyone who is stressed out from life in the big city and wants to relax. These days, it is a major financial center and also extremely popular with tourists. However, that doesn’t stop it from being the sort of place where it is easy to head down to the beach and just chill out. Any geographically mobile worker looking to enjoy life and avoid getting burned out can’t do much better than coming here and starting to relax. While finding a decent property is often a problem when moving to a compact island, with the offers from REM Services that isn’t going to be a problem here. Once you get to the islands, you will find a warm welcome from the big expat community and the chance to live in a relaxed way. Eating fried fish next to the sea and going scuba diving after work are a couple of the unbeatable ways of ending a day which are possible here.

A High Standard of Living

This point focuses on an area this likely to be a huge plus point for many people but may be an area of concern for others. Quite simply, the Cayman Islands offer one of the highest standards of living in the whole world. This is great news if you have a high income and want to enjoy living somewhere with all of the comforts modern life can offer. The CIA World Factbook gives us a reliable guide to what the standard of living is like in different countries. In the case of the Cayman Islands, it tends to always rank very highly on their list. The flipside to this is that it is an expensive place to live. Salaries tend to be high here and goods are expensive. This means that a location independent worker who doesn’t earn all that much may find that the cost of living is beyond them. As a start on a fact-finding mission you could check out the real estate prices and rental costs on a Cayman residential property management site. Finally, this is well known as a place where no taxes are paid. This means that the income you earn all belongs to you and that can make it a lot easier to make your budget stretch to a quality lifestyle.

A Long List of Things to Do

When you can live and work anywhere in the world you will want a lifestyle that suits you. The Cayman Islands offers a place where adopting a motto of all work and no play simply isn’t an option. This is an idyllic spot for anyone who wants to have a lot to do each day, especially if they love being out of doors and close to warm clear waters. There is a lot to do here, so finishing up your work for the day, packing up the laptop and heading out to enjoy the place is going to be a very tempting option. One final issue to bear in mind is that the population here is small and not very many visas are handed out at any given time. If you are keen to live there and enjoy your life away from work then it is definitely worth doing some research before building up your hopes. After all, if we all lived and worked in paradise it probably wouldn’t remain like paradise for very long.
