The Philippines is the ideal holiday location, it doesn’t matter if you are travelling or going for a holiday break because there is everything you need to have a fantastic time. Millions of people flock to the Philippines each year, they go for a number of reasons; the weather, the food, the culture and most of all the people. It is difficult to find a more welcoming place to visit, everyone is so friendly there. The Philippines is often over looked by both travellers and holiday makers, in my opinion it is the hidden gem of south east Asia. A holiday to the Philippines is always a fantastic idea, now that there are so many great deals on offer there has never been a better time to visit. The beginning of the year is the best time to find bargain offers from holiday companies, so keep your eyes peeled and take advantage of one of these deals when you see them! Here are my favourite things about this amazing destination.

The People

This has to be the best thing about the Philippines, the people are unbelievably friendly and welcoming to everyone that visits their country. You don’t need to worry too much about the language barrier because the majority of locals will speak some English, yes, they may not be fluent but you will be able to get by. A lot of people enjoy practising their English so talking to people and having fun is almost guaranteed when you are exploring the country. Filipinos are happy to help visitors and are always keen to make sure that you have a great time.

The Food

Ok, so leave your diet at the airport! You cannot go to the Philippines and stick to your diet, that would be unforgivable! There is so much amazing cuisine on offer that you have to make sure that you try as much as possible. It is a food lovers heaven, there is food on offer to fit any budget and to suit any taste. Whether you are looking for a quick bite from a food stall on the street or looking to sit down in a fancy restaurant, you will find it all on offer here. If you are staying close to the beach then indulge in some of the world’s best seafood.

The Sea

If you love getting in the ocean then you will love the Philippines, the crystal clear waters are so inviting that you will find it difficult to run straight in when you first spot the sea. It is one of the top locations in the world for scuba diving, so book a place with a local company and get a different view of the amazing sea life. You can also go surfing, whether you are a pro or it’s your first time there are waves to suit all levels. If you don’t fancy doing anything too energetic then simply kick back and watch the local surfers riding the waves.

  1. “…because the majority of locals will speak some English, yes, they may not be fluent but you will be able to get by. Wow, this coming from someone who said “the majority of locals”… even your grammar is offensive. Get your facts right. There are many people in the Philippines who are very fluent in English. In fact, many people go to this country to learn how to read, write, and speak in English. Yes, not just Asians but also Europeans. I can’t believe someone would make this hasty assumption about a place he barely knows.
