I recently got a very nice opportunity to try out a great hotel in Bangkok and I was really looking forward to it. As a person living in Thailand, I am constantly surprised at the world class accommodation here and the prices are just stunning too, and while it’s great to get out from Bangkok and explore, Bangkok is also great to spend a few days in. Anyone can afford it and it is a great thing. I wanted to share my experiences at the Grand Sukhumvit Hotel in Bangkok, because what can I say, I was extremely impressed. Read on to find out more about this little piece of paradise.
One of the biggest selling points of this hotel is definitely the location. It is located right in the heart of the city, near to some amazing night markets, and is of course perfect for the business or leisure traveler alike. There are also many places to eat, shop and see nearby. This is perfect if you want a good base to get out and experience Bangkok.
Another great thing is that it is also very easy to reach the hotel from the airport via the elevated highway and the Nana BTS Skytrain Station is also very close by. I found this very convenient for heading out for the day and maximising the time seeing the sights.
The hotel has 386 rooms and suites and I was lucky enough to stay in the one bedroom apartment, which is a huge 72 square metres. This is definitely enough room to move around and at the end of the day it was great to feel the comfort that you would feel at home with a bit of luxury. I also really enjoyed the clean modern design of my room and it was nice to see that there are also a number of other options, such as a normal room all the way up to an unbelievably big 190 square metre 3 bedroom apartment! Naturally this means that there is something for everyone and even a larger family could be comfortable here.
There are a number of great facilities to enjoy here like the pool, spa, jacuzzi and a fully equipped gym. This is a great way to spend the time after a long hard day of seeing the sights and enjoying the time, especially with some productive relaxation or fitness. The pool was a very stunning feature, with some typical Thai touches like a typical Thai outdoor villa and huge urns that spout out water. It was more a work of art than a pool, but it was still a great pool!
One thing I absolutely loved about this hotel was the very close proximity to the Temple of Dawn, which is a stunning temple located directly on the Chao Phraya River. This Buddhist temple is very famous for its stunning spire that is intricately decorated. It truly is a beautiful site that you must visit and when it is right at the doorstep of the hotel, there really isn’t any reason to miss it. Bangkok Ocean World, Central World, Siam Paragon and much more are also nearby, so it is the perfect place to be!
As I already mentioned above, the hotel is definitely ideal for the business traveler and this is especially the case with free WiFi available throughout the hotel. You can sit by the pool and do some work, enjoy a refreshing drink at the Aziza pool bar and then head in for a swim (of course). There are also 6 very convenient meeting rooms that you can use, which is absolutely perfect if you need to conduct some meetings, seminars or simply meet with clients. These rooms can host up to 180 people, which is absolutely ideal if you are planning to hold a larger capacity event. There are also some great catering options too, so there is no need to organise an event at some far away location in Bangkok.
