How to Get in Shape in Time for Your Beach Vacation
Heading to the beach this summer and want to look your best when you arrive? When going on vacation, especially to a public place like the beach, it’s pretty common to want to be in your best physical shape. Not only will you be outside for everyone to see, but you’ll be wearing a lot less clothing to cover up those imperfections you dislike. If you’re going to be beach-ready in time for your next trip, you’ll need to follow this advice.
Cut Out the Drinking and Smoking
If you happen to have vices that include smoking cigarettes, using recreational drugs, or drinking alcohol, it’s time to put them on the back burner for a while. These things may be alright in some instances in small portions, but when consumed on a regular basis it can lead to weight gain, decreased energy, a lack of concentration or focus, and a host of other medical problems.
Not exactly how you want to spend your vacation on the shores of Miami beach huh? Start cutting back on your consumption of these things, and if necessary get help from service providers like Peaks Recovery, rehab facilities in Colorado. They can help you to kick your habit with outpatient services. Within a few weeks you should look and feel like a different person.
Watch What You’re Snacking On
Everyone is guilty of snacking between meals. Though there’s nothing wrong with a small bite to eat to tide you over until your next scheduled meal, what you eat can really pack on the pounds. If you’re going to be ready for the beach in a few weeks, you’ll need to be mindful of what you’re eating. It’s time to say goodbye to those chips, candy, soda, pastries, and other sweet and salty treats – at least for the next few weeks.
If you love to snack (which who doesn’t), find healthier alternatives. Instead of eating something packed with refined sugar like cakes and cookies, opt for a fresh fruit salad or a piece of dark chocolate. Love potato chips or french fries? Try baking them or cutting up fruits and vegetables and making your own chips or fries? Enjoy a milkshake from time to time? Make your own at home with coconut or almond milk, frozen yogurt, and your favorite fruits.
Start Planning Your Meals
One of the biggest mistakes people make when it comes to eating habits is not eating enough or eating the wrong things. Skipping breakfast, for instance is very common. While it may seem that consuming less calories would help you lose weight, when your body doesn’t get the nutrition it needs, it actually causes you to gain weight. Another bad habit is choosing an easier option like eating out. This is fine on occasion (and you’ll be doing plenty of it on vacation), but can ruin your goals to get in shape before your trip.
Meal planning helps to eliminate both of these poor eating habits. By planning out what you’ll eat a week or two in advance, you can make sure that you have all the ingredients you need at home to make healthier meals. You can look at recipes and ideas so that eating at home doesn’t get bland and urge you to want to go out.
Work Out
If you’re not already physically active, now is the time to start. You likely only have a few weeks before your beach vacation, but it could be enough to help you shed those extra calories. It is imperative that you’re working out at least 3-5 times a week for 30 minutes each day. If you believe you can best exercise by signing up for a gym membership. Try to look for facilities like this chain of Denver, CO fitness centers. They offer everything from healthy shakes and protein bars on-site to personal trainers and workout equipment to their members to help them get in shape before, during, and after their vacation.
If you can’t afford the gym or simply would prefer something else, just getting active can help you shed pounds. Play with the kids at the park, run with the dog, participate in community sports, or just go for a swim. As long as you get your heart rate pumping, you can rest assure you’re burning calories.
Whether you’ve got 3 weeks or 3 months until your next beach trip, if you want to get in shape, you’ll want to start these tips right away. The sooner you begin ridding the body of unnecessary toxins and garbage, fueling it with nutrients and vitamins, and shedding pounds with regular physical activity, the sooner you’ll see results you’re impressed with. Once you’ve reached your ultimate beach body, don’t forget to take lots of shots of the new you catching some rays from the sun or riding the waves.
